Question about a George Jones Song

Hi, I have been listening to a lot of George Jones recently. I was listening to the first release on Epic. "A Picture of Me(Without You)". There is a song called "That Singing Friend of Mine". I was just wondering who the song is about?

I was thinking it might be Johnny Horton. Does anyone have any info?

A number of years ago in the magazine Country Song Round Up Bill Anderson had a column where people could ask questions. Someone asked about this song. Bill responded that he looked in to it and the song was about no one.
